Exploring the proposed 2021 ABPI Code of Practice
Exploring the proposed 2021 ABPI Code of Practice
2021 will see a new ABPI Code of Practice which is planned to come into force on 01 July 2021. The changes should be confirmed just before Christmas, but a proposed draft is available on the PMCPA website giving us a heads up for the new Code.
Free key change webinar
On Wednesday 16 September 2020 we teamed up with Clare Schofield, Compliance Pathways, and ran a 30 minute webinar explaining the key changes. 150+ signed up for the session, but we also recorded it and so if you’d like to watch it, please contact us and we’ll send you the recording link.
The Code changes aren’t confirmed yet, but scrutinising the draft, the Code is having a massive clause shuffle and virtually every clause is being renumbered. New colour coded audience sections are being introduced and so for seasoned Code experts, there will be a lot of work learning where all the information has moved to. The other major changes are around partnerships – grants, donations, sponsorship, MEGs and collaborations. The scope is broadening and there will also be more disclosure of payments to public and journalists.
What is guaranteed is big changes to your policies and SOPs reflecting all these changes. This is where we can help.
New course to help you assess the changes and implications
Unlike other years were there is a clear list of before and after proposals, the changes are too great to allow this. Unpicking the detailed changes is not easy – even for Clare and myself as seasoned Code experts.
So we are running a new course helping you to implement the 2021 ABPI Code of Practice changes. We’ll be giving a series of six live webinars looking at the proposed changes and the implications of the changes on policies and SOPs. Once the Code is then confirmed we’ll do another series of webinars so you know exactly what has changed. We’ll also provide a series of checklists for the areas of the Code that have changed. The new course will help to guide you through the changes.
